Bronze in Process

We're also getting ready for the Smithsonian Craft Show and experimenting with some new techniques.

The crescent in the video below is going to be a finial on a set of andirons. John is pouring bronze into an open-faced permanent mold that we made out of cast iron. The iron mold chills the bronze quickly, shrinking the exposed surface, and giving each one a unique lunar texture and color variation.

We'll add the andirons to the Special Projects on our website next week so you can check them out before we head to DC!

We hope to begin making cookware in (closed) permanent molds in the future, but this is a first step!
